Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Our Mission

The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee (DEIC) serves to build awareness for our children, families, and staff through events that bring our community together.

DEIC aims to create a community where parents and students have a sense of belonging and camaraderie at Rancho Romero through programming such as Bullying Prevention Week, Words Matter Week, and our Multicultural Festival.

All of our children deserve to be validated, affirmed, and included by peers, staff, and the community.

District Support

The San Ramon Valley Council of PTAs (SRVCPTA) supports DEIC Chairs and their committees at each school site.

Check out additional resources and information from our district-wide SRVCPTA.

The FAIR Education Act

The FAIR Education Act requires that California K-12 schools provide Fair, Accurate, Inclusive, and Respectful representations of people with disabilities and people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender in history and social studies curriculum.

The California Education Code has been updated over time to ensure that the contributions of members of underrepresented racial, ethnic and cultural groups to the economic, political, and social development of California and the United States are included in history and social studies lessons.

Social Justice Standards K-12

The Social Justice Standards are a set of anchor standards and age-appropriate learning outcomes divided into four domains—identity, diversity, justice and action (IDJA).

The standards provide a common language and organizational structure: Teachers can use them to guide curriculum development, and administrators can use them to make schools more just, equitable and safe.

The standards are leveled for every stage of K–12 education and include school-based scenarios to show what anti-bias attitudes and behavior may look like in the classroom.
