What We Do

HOSPITALITY

Making all Rancho community members feel welcomed, appreciated, and informed is an important part of our work. We host social events like coffees, morning walks, evening mixers, potluck luncheons, and park play dates to connect with one another. Each August we host a Staff Lunch, and we lead the Teacher/Staff Appreciation efforts each spring, to name a few.

New TK and kinder families are welcomed in cooperation with the school and buddy families are connected in grades 1-5.

If you are new to Rancho this year and want to be on the distribution list for helpful New Family information, please contact Karen Halm at karenehalm@gmail.com.

RANCHO OUTREACH

Rancho reaches out to the local community in many ways. Many of those efforts are led by the Student Council, and others are led through our PTA.

The Sister School philanthropic program is a district-wide PTA-sponsored program benefitting the students of the San Ramon Valley Unified School District (SRVUSD) by fostering civic responsibility, enhancing community engagement, promoting volunteerism, and teaching the joy of helping others in need.

Rancho partners with Coronado Elementary School in Richmond, CA by engaging student and parent volunteers interested in participating in our philanthropic activities to support Coronado. The time commitment is low but the reward is high.

Each November, the Rancho community comes together to donate food and assemble bags for families in Richmond who are in need.

Rancho also partners with Pledge To Humanity which empowers children and young adults to volunteer in efforts that improve the quality of life for other children, families, and seniors in need through local and global initiatives. Several volunteer opportunities will occur throughout the year. To start a PTH group of your own, contact Pledge to Humanity directly.

HEALTH AND WELLNESS

Ensuring Rancho is a healthy and safe place to be is a priority. Whether it's nutrition, the environment, or healthy living, there's a lot to be learned and our parent volunteers are ready to pitch in!

In 2016-17 our parents lead the charge at countless meetings in the local community to ensure the crosswalk on Hemme would be safe for children crossing.

Our "Harvest of the Month" program engages family volunteers to teach students about healthy foods by making and sharing yummy recipes!

Each fall, we support the district's initiative of "Red Ribbon Week" teaching children about being healthy and safe.

SCHOOL SUPPORT

Our volunteers support school events each year including the Book Fair which raises money for the Library, the Run For Education which is a district initiative, eyesight and hearing testing, school pictures, assemblies, and more.

Additionally, our volunteers serve as Room Parents, helping to facilitate volunteers and events for each class and assist/support the teachers.

Our volunteers also support our school during Lunch and Recess, helping our children stay safe and play fair. If you would like to sign up to donate a single day or a recurring contribution of your time to help out at "yard duty", please contact the school office.

WAYS AND MEANS

Rancho PTA raises money to support our local, state, and national events and initiatives for the year. We only fundraise as much as we need to, as our budget is approximately $30K each year. Our volunteers work to help ensure we have adequate funds being spent properly in order to maintain our PTA charter and enhance our school community.

We raise money through PTA Family Memberships purchased during online registration, and we cultivate student leadership in cooperation with the school, Rancho Romero Education Fund (RREF), and School Site Council (SSC).

Our Run Club and Yearbook sales bring in funds for us to host our free, PTA-sponsored events throughout the year. Also, restaurants that give us a portion of the proceeds during our Din Out for Rancho days and nights round out our budget for our exciting events and initiatives.
