PTA MISSION AND PURPOSE

The mission of the Rancho PTA is to positively impact the lives of all children and families and serve to organize parent/family involvement in the Rancho school community.

While the school staff prioritizes academics, the RREF (Rancho Romero Education Fund) raises money, and the SSC (School Site Council) makes recommendations for how funds are spent. The PTA partners with the school, RREF, and SSC to enhance the sense of community at Rancho.

The purpose of the Rancho PTA is the following, according to our local and state PTAs:

  • Promote the welfare of children and youth at home, school, in places of worship, and throughout the community
  • Raise the standards of home life
  • Advocate for laws that further the education, physical and mental health, welfare, and safety of children and youth
  • Promote the collaboration and engagement of families and educators in the education of children and youth
  • Engage the public in united efforts to secure the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and social well-being of all children and youth
  • Advocate for fiscal responsibility regarding public tax dollars in public education funding

At Rancho specifically, we serve to organize the way parents and families can engage in the school community - whether volunteering in classrooms, leading and engaging in events and initiatives, or providing perspective, feedback, advocacy, and collective collaboration with the school and teachers/staff. Our Rancho PTA ensures that the community and social/emotional experience for families and children is a positive one.

PTA MEMBERSHIP

Rancho's PTA is one unit within the San Ramon Valley Council of PTAs (the group of all of the PTAs in the SRVUSD school district). This is part of a larger PTA group for the County called the 32nd District PTA, the state of California PTA called "CAPTA", and the National PTA.

When you purchase a PTA Family Membership, you commit $40 for the year. This supports the events, initiatives, and advocacy work being done at the school, within the SRVUSD district through the SRV Council of PTAs, and beyond. With your membership, you enjoy free admission to all of the PTA-sponsored events including family fun nights, parent education, socials, the international festival, and more.

If you'd like to purchase a family membership for $40, it's not too late! You can purchase one during the online registration process and after that, you can purchase your PTA Membership through the Future Fund Store

Our PTA is involved in providing the following:

Our National PTA ID number is: 00008516 and our CA State PTA number is: 2747

OUR BUDGET

The Rancho PTA raises money each year only for those programs and experiences that are voted on and approved by the PTA Association. To view our detailed budget, come to one of our PTA Association meetings scheduled for this year!

We raise money through the following means:

  • Family Memberships
  • Run Club Fees
  • Yearbook Fees
  • Dine Out For Rancho Events
  • Run for Education

Since RREF does most of the fundraising around the school community, Rancho PTA tries to raise funds in ways that are subtle asks. We like to focus our efforts on boosting the experience of the school community and organizing the participation of parents and families in the school experience rather than being seen as a large fundraising entity. As long as we can support our initiatives through the fundraisers above, we will not need to make large or frequent asks of our parents and the larger local community.

Any questions about the budget, money, and PTA should be directed to PTA President Melissa Barale, at RanchoPTAPres@gmail.com.

The Rancho PTA is an affiliate under CA PTA’s Letter of Determination and 501(c)3 registration. As an SRVCPTA unit, we have 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status under CAPTA’s group exemption. The group exemption number 0646 (needed for the 990 filing).
